So we all trained out to Saitama, which is a suburb of the massive Tokyo metropolitian area. There we met up with Maximum the Hormone. These guys are huge in Japan, and have a quite a following in the international otaku population for their work on the Deathnote soundtrack.
Ichy, Insolence's DJ and fellow otaku was quick to have the entire band sign his Deathnote inspired note book. I really really wish I had thought of that.
Daisuke (vox) and Nowa (drum/vox) were really chill, and we spent quite some time backstage just chatting. They were so reserved (no drinking) backstage and it was amazing to see them transform during their set opening for Insolence. Even the members of Insolence were kinda shocked that Maximum the Hormone wasn't head lining the show. Nowa on drums was super impressive and the show was awseome to see. The smaller venue was packed beyond capacity and turned into sauna once bands starting playing. The heat and sweat in the air immdiatley caused my camera lense to fog, so it was quite the battle to document. Between bands, I went backstage and used a hair dryer to heat my lense to something closer to the room's temperature, and thus reduce the fogging. Yeah, it was that hot in there.
The show was great, despite being drenched in sweat and I got a huge nerd buzz when they played the Deathnote OP and END.
